"An Introductory Textbook of Linguistics and Phonetics is a simple and easy introduction to linguistic science. Dr Varshney, who was declared an outstanding teacher at the UGC summer institute in English held at Panjab University, Chandigarh and was subsequently granted a UGC fellowship for further studies at Central Institute of English and foreign languages, Hyderabad, justified the fellowship fully and appreciably.
