This textbook has been written for undergraduate students of Radiology, Radiotherapy Technology, and allied health disciplines who must master two foundational subjects side by side: the precise language of medicine, and the legal and ethical framework within which that language is used every day at the bedside. Part I builds medical vocabulary from the ground up — starting with roots, prefixes, and suffixes, and progressing to system-wise diagnostic, surgical, and procedural terminology, culminating in the practical skills of reading medical orders and maintaining electronic health records accurately. Part II turns to the responsibilities that accompany clinical practice: the principles of medical ethics, the standards of professional conduct, the law surrounding negligence and consent, and the special sensitivities involved in endof- life care, organ transplantation, and the custody of medical records. Each chapter closes with a set of review questions intended to reinforce recall and application, in keeping with the institute-level examination pattern most allied health programs follow. It is hoped that this book serves as a dependable companion through both coursework and clinical training.
