Product Description

The present study is the outcome of the UGC research project “Impact of Sprinkler Irrigation on Agriculture Development in Drought Prone Areas of Haryana” awarded to Prof. Mohammad under UGC Emeritus Fellowship scheme. It focuses on impact of sprinkler irrigation on agricultural development and consequently on socio-economic transformation in the desert ecosystem with special reference to water drought prone areas of Haryana. The study is based on primary and secondary data. The secondary data have been obtained from various Govt., semi-Govt., NGOs, and websites, while the primary data have been collected from 465 respondents selected from 13 villages. The study is divided into 9 chapters dealing with introduction, data base, identification and delimitation of drought prone areas of Haryana, sources and pattern of irrigation, pattern of land use, agriculture development and socio-economic transformation. The study will be of immense value to the scholar of different disciplines and politicians, specially those who are interested in desert eco-system. It will also help administrators, and policy-makers in planning the development of irrigation system for agriculture development and socio-economic transformation and for evolving better strategies for food security system.
